Do I need to call 811 before excavation work starts?
Yes, and it’s a requirement. Calling 811 before any digging marks the location of underground utilities on your property. It’s a free service and helps prevent serious problems. We expect that to be done before we begin excavation work. If you haven’t done it before, we can walk you through how it works.
What kind of equipment do you use for dirt work?
It depends on the scope of the job. Smaller grading jobs and tight areas call for different equipment than large-scale earthmoving. We use excavators, bulldozers, and other machinery as the job requires. When we come out for the estimate, we’ll have a clear picture of what’s needed.
Can you do dirt work on sloped or uneven land?
Yes. Sloped terrain is common throughout Central Texas and we’re set up to work on it. Cut and fill grading is one of the standard approaches to establishing a level area on a hillside or uneven lot.
How do I know how much dirt needs to be moved?
That’s part of what we figure out during the estimate. We look at the existing grade, the target grade, and what needs to happen in between. You don’t need to calculate anything — just tell us what you’re trying to end up with.
Do you import or export fill material if needed?
That depends on the specific job. Some sites have enough material on-site to work with. Others need fill brought in or excess material removed. We’ll let you know what’s involved once we assess the property.
